Whew, it has been a busy week, what with Sew Mama Sew's giveaway day (my giveaway is here), and life in general. We are moving into school concert season starting next week - it's so fun to watch my kids performing in these little concerts and recitals, I am charging up my video camera to be ready! Most importantly this week I finally bought the DVD of Elf. My Most Favourite Christmas Movie Ever!! So I am beginning to feel super Christmassy! Once again, not a lot of sewing, but I did start my item for the VMQG scrap swap. Here's a little peek...
Yep, that's my seam ripper. This is my first time making something for someone else, with their fabric - yikes!
I also pulled out all my Christmas fabric (much more than I thought!) to get started on some time sensitive projects.
I'd love to make a bunch of Christmas gift bags so that we can cut down on wrapping paper. I'm also planning to make one of these "The Hood" Christmas tree skirts, it's so cute, and it looks like the little papier mâché ornaments that my partner and I made for our tree twenty years ago (they are still some of my favourite ornaments, of course).
So, I guess I should get moving! I'm looking forward to seeing what everybody else has been up to on Lee's WIP Wednesday, if anybody got anything done what with all those giveaways to enter!
As always, thanks so much for visiting and have a great Wednesday!
The tree skirt is amazing! Love the Christmas fabric!
ReplyDeleteOoh, looking forward to seeing what your black and white creation turns into! I can't wait to see all the finished projects at our December meeting! That tree skirt is super cute!
ReplyDeleteElf is one of the greatest holiday movies ever. I saw it at the store the other day, and I should've bought it! Enjoy! The tree skirt looks fun. I can't wait to see your take on it! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of Christmas fabric.
ReplyDeleteAHAHA - Elf is awesome. I laughed and laughed. I am thinking a re-watch of this movie this year also. I love your xmas prints - esp that little snowman on the right, he is adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove that stack of Christmas fabric. Love the snowman Blitzen on top! He is one cute fabric isn't he! Good luck making your bags. I really need to try that too when the boys are bigger. I get over the paper piles!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous tree skirt!
That tree skirt is adorable! Hope you have fun making it out of all your cute fabrics. I did fabric gift bags a zillion years ago and we still use them and love them. Totally worth the time and effort. Besides you need a little sewing with Elf on in the background.
ReplyDeleteExtra pressure to make it perfect when you are making it for a swap! But it'll look fabulous I'm sure Yzo. Can't wait to see the tree skirt. Really cute pattern. Have fun making it.
ReplyDeleteI love that tree skirt! I just joined the VMQG last meeting and this is my first challenge making something for someone, and with their own fabric! I'm a bit nervous. Your ahead of me though. I haven't started! Ack! Oh and I like Elf, Elf is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteDecember seems to always fly by. I love your collection of Christmas fabric. The tree skirt is amazing, can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Elf is may favorite movie, too. My husband and I watch it every Christmas morning.
I love your fabric array for gift bags, I try to make at least a few every year!!
