(And other goodies.)<p> Yes, I am a last-minute Lucy! I did actually finish a few things, so I'd better link them up fast!!</p>
<p>Here were <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2013/10/dusting-off-old-blog.html" target="_blank" title="">my goals</a>:</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; line-height: 18px; color: rgb(102, 102, 102);"><p><font face="Trebuchet MS, Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif" style="font-size: 13px;">1. & 2. Finish two twin size quilts for my boys. These are ready for binding and have an October 23 deadline, so this should be no problem. </font><font size="4"><strong>Done and Done!</strong></font></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/11848496633/" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3717/11848496633_30fd29d780_z.jpg" id="blogsy-1389242909715.6882" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="547"></a></div>
<p><font size="4"><strong><br>
</strong></font></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;">3. Wonky star Mendocino Mermaid quilt for Ivy. Mostly cut out, just waiting on more background fabric. </span><font size="4"><strong>Done!</strong></font></p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/11847990065" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3677/11847990065_dea1ce42b8_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1389242909665.9265" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="375" height="500"></a></div>
<p style="font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;"> Yep, that is the worst quilt photo ever, the room isn't big enough to even get a shot of the whole thing. Moving on.</p>
<p style="font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;">4. Field Study triangle quilt. Basically outright copying Blue Elephant Stitches' gorgeous quilt. Have it about half cut out... Yeah, still only half cut out :(</p>
<p style="font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;">5. Remember that pirate quilt... Shiver me timbers, I think this one must be in Davey Jones's locker by now! (Er, not done.)</p>
<p style="font-size: 13px; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;">6. Those pirate pinwheels (and the extra 16 I made because of my sad math skills!) will become another small quilt, maybe for the boys, or to be donated. Sadly, not done either.</p>
<p><font size="4">Sad to say, but that 50% ratio is pretty darned good for me these days! I am pleased to have the most important quilts done. The sewing machine has been pretty neglected as of late, what with power outages, winter storms, Christmas, etc. I have been keeping myself busy with other things, however:</font></p>

<p><font face="Arial Black" size="4">And one for the boy...</font></p>

(And I'm sure I'll get around to updating my Q1 FAL button any day now.)</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/10840721883" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7414/10840721883_a24c65e7c7_b.jpg" id="blogsy-1384572625591.1465" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="708"></a></div>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">These were totally inspired by <a href="http://www.handmadebycasey.com/blog/2012/6/20/a-minecraft-quilt.html" target="_blank" title="">this quilt</a>, and other similar quilts that I found on Pinterest. My boys are both really into Minecraft, and while I'm not in love with video games, I realize that they are hard to avoid, and Minecraft seems to offer a lot of the positives of online game playing, and not so many of the negatives. And it is very sweet to see my boys tucked in every night with their minecraft quilts!</span></p>
<p> <span style="line-height: 1.3em;">These were actually completed a couple of weeks ago (and I had them long armed, as I didn't really feel up to wrestling two 88"x72" quilts through my relatively small sewing machine), but I have really been struggling with taking photos in order to blog them - first having enough light, or a good indoor space to lay out a large project, and then being able to edit them. I find I am usually too lazy to fire up the laptop in order to use picmonkey these days, and I have been looking for a good iPad app that does the same things as picmonkey -- cropping, adjusting brightness/contrast/saturation, maybe some filters if I'm feeling artsy, border options, text overlay, and the ability to make a collage. I have been trying a bunch out, and so far PicsArt seems to offer most of these, but I'm open to other suggestions!</span></p>
<p>In search of the ultimate lazy blogger's platform, I'm going to be trying out Instagram - you can find me there with the username @chezroo. Click the little button if you want to be Instagram friends! (And I'm new there, so friends are very welcome!)</p>

<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">After a crazed whirlwind of a summer that involved packing the house, saying goodbye to our friends, and driving across the country with my mum and my two boys, we are finally beginning to feel settled into our new home, neighbourhood, city. I'm hoping to go through the pictures from the summer so I can post a few here soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">My new sewing room is all unpacked, and there has been actual sewing going on! I finished two quilt tops for my boys, and, gasp!, sent them out to be long arm quilted. Oh, the luxury! The binding is all ready to go, and they will hopefully be revealed soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/10300380514/" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3687/10300380514_1210f1b91c.jpg" id="blogsy-1381880142193.0415" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;"> There are a few other projects on the go too, so I am linking up with Leanne's final Q4 Finish-Along at <a href="http://www.shecanquilt.blogspot.ca/2013/10/q4-begins-link-your-list-for-last.html" target="_blank" title="">She Can Quilt</a>. Hey, it got me back on the blog, maybe it will help me get a few things done before another year rolls by!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">Here's my list:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">1. & 2. Finish two twin size quilts for my boys. These are ready for binding and have an October 23 deadline, so this should be no problem.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">3. Wonky star Mendocino Mermaid quilt for Ivy. Mostly cut out, just waiting on more background fabric. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/10300468176/" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3814/10300468176_148be71211.jpg" id="blogsy-1381880142114.3342" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;"> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">4. Field Study triangle quilt. Basically outright copying <a href="http://blueelephantstitches.blogspot.ca/2012/10/field-study-triangles.html" target="_blank" title="">Blue Elephant Stitches' gorgeous quilt</a>. Have it about half cut out, just waiting for more background fabric. Here's a pic of my triangle sewing test - I referred to Katie's post at <a href="http://sewkatiedid.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/unknown-direction-quilt-top/" target="_blank" title="">SewKatieDid</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/10300469526/" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3725/10300469526_e1a09bf458.jpg" id="blogsy-1381880142188.8674" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;"> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">5. Remember that pirate quilt...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/10300383884/" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7392/10300383884_c8be570f95.jpg" id="blogsy-1381880142205.2063" class="aligncenter" width="500" height="500" alt=""></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;"> ...sorry for the horrid photo. This has been rethought, I just took the outside pinwheels off (good thing I never actually finished putting all the borders on, see procraftiniation really does pay off!), and this needs one more addition, and maybe some hand-quilting, and will be a wall hanging. To be honest, my partner took the seamripper to the pinwheels, he was so eager to see this one finally be finished!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">6. Those pirate pinwheels (and the extra 16 I made because of my sad math skills!) will become another small quilt, maybe for the boys, or to be donated.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">That should do it, don't you think?! There are other WIPs laying around, of course, but nothing that is likely to be finished before the new year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;">Feels good to be back in the swing of things. Thanks for visiting!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;"> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear:both; text-align:left;"> </div>

Aren't they awesome? The best of times, and sometimes the hardest of times, all wrapped up in one small bundle. My brother-in-law recently had his first baby, a little boy, so naturally a baby quilt was required. I had planned to make a rainbow quilt out of stash fabric, but then fell for a charm pack of Simply Color - rainbowliscious, but not too feminine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8811149374" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7434/8811149374_367294d7d7.jpg" id="blogsy-1369945546226.6953" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="358"></a></div>
<p> Add some straight line quilting...</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8814395778" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8121/8814395778_6cc83c8680.jpg" id="blogsy-1369945546200.066" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="348"></a></div>
<p> And some Ikea fabric for the backing...</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8814400042" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2859/8814400042_82aabb8787.jpg" id="blogsy-1369945546291.5894" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="333"></a></div>
<p> This was my first HST quilt - have to say, love the look, hate all the trimming... Ugh!</p>
<p>I have a little something to show off from my own baby (although he's almost ten!). He saw this pattern in my copy of Mollie Makes, and decided to make them. He did them all by himself. Aren't they cute? Of course, every time I look at them I think, "isn't he cute!"</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8811145222" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2838/8811145222_ce3cfffe1c.jpg" id="blogsy-1369945546285.433" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="372"></a></div>
<p> Love!</p>
<p>We are now in the midst of planning a cross-country move for our family this summer, so blogging will probably continue to be sporadic until things are more settled. I do have more to share, and I love that I have you to share it with, so thank you for visiting!</p>

One of my littles is going through a tough time, and meeting his needs has been pretty all-consuming, so when I turned on my sewing machine this afternoon, it was for the first time in over a month. And that's okay, because my family will always take priority, and I never want to feel stressed out about sewing or blogging, as these are things that I want to do for fun (and to relieve stress!). So it is in that spirit that I'm linking up with the lovely Catherine at <a href="http://www.knottedcotton.com/2013/03/slow-bloggers-unite.html" target="_blank" title="">Knotted Cotton</a>, to celebrate being a slow blogger. Like a suuuper slow blogger.</p>
<p> I do have some sewing things to share, whenever my next free moment comes up, but here's a tiny peek of what I'm working on right now - </p>

<p>Yep, that's right, I'm just started my Madrona Road challenge today. And yes, it's supposed to be done by Monday. Thank goodness I wasn't planning to make a whole quilt!</p>
<p>Wish me luck!</p>
<p>As always, thanks for visiting :)</p>

<br />
This is what my sewing space/life looks like this week ... a bit of a mess. My littlest has been sick since saturday, so not much sleep happening around here. The table is piled with Madrona Road fabrics for MQG challenge, pattern pieces for the dining chair slipcovers still being drafted (does it seem like the simplest things take the longest??), and my ever-growing boxes of EPP for T-Hex (last seen <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/10/on-belay.html" target="_blank">here</a>). Recently the thought of a velveteen backing for this crossed my mind, and spurred me on! I still don't think I have enough hexies basted to finish it, but I definitely have enough to make lots of progress.<br />
<br />
As far as the FAL list goes, why is it that the "official" items suddenly become less interesting than the unofficial ones as soon as I make a list?!<br />
<br />
Official list:<br />
1. Pirate quilt - no progress<br />
2. Madrona Road - pattern drawn (a foundation pattern based on the Single Girl, a la <a href="http://www.redpoppyquilts.com/2012/01/paper-piecing-single-girl-quilt.html" target="_blank">Red Poppy Quilts</a>), now I'm having second thoughts<br />
3. Princess and the Pea mini quilt - no progress<br />
4. Japanese X and Plus blocks - no progress<br />
<br />
Unofficial list:<br />
1. Dining chair slip covers - still drawing pattern<br />
2. VMQG nametag - finished! (pic to come), but my husband had to work late so I didn't get to go the meeting :(<br />
3. Baby quilt for upcoming niece/nephew - no progress<br />
4. Appliqued baby onesies - no progress. Okay, these have been sitting on my desk for ages, and could it be any easier to sew a tiny applique on?<br />
<br />
Not a very productive week, but I have been getting to spend lots of quality time with my baby girl <3<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DH3UivLUZlk/UP2oq1nU-8I/AAAAAAAAB_I/QoVhDaS025k/s1600/projectbags.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DH3UivLUZlk/UP2oq1nU-8I/AAAAAAAAB_I/QoVhDaS025k/s320/projectbags.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A, well, bagload of bags ... these are project bags from Jeni's Drawstring Bag pattern. I had plans to make some of these for Christmas present wrapping, but that didn't happen. I'm still hoping to get that done before next Christmas! I did however get these knitting project bags made for a group of friends who are all knitters. They were belated Xmas gifts that I gave when we all met up last week, fortunately they were all appreciated!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PAv4x2Obm_g/UP2okVPWJfI/AAAAAAAAB_A/7bOzMklkRFo/s1600/openwideL2wm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PAv4x2Obm_g/UP2okVPWJfI/AAAAAAAAB_A/7bOzMklkRFo/s320/openwideL2wm.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also made a medium sized Open Wide pouch for a friend's birthday last week. She had admired the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/7037284693/in/set-72157629930257733" target="_blank">viewfinder bag</a> that I made for a school auction a couple of years ago, but lost out on the bidding. I still have a fair bit of this fabric left, and thought she would appreciate it.<br />
<br />
Did I touch any of my FAL projects this week? Nope. I did make a little progress on a couple of non-official projects (of course). <br />
<br />
Linking up with Plum & June's Let's Get Acquainted link up, being hosted this week by <a href="http://fabricmutt.blogspot.ca/2013/01/lets-get-acquainted.html" target="_blank">Heidi at Fabric Mutt</a>. If you don't know Heidi or her blog, you're missing out. She has the loveliest projects, and is one of the sweetest people on the internet. Seriously!<br />

Chair covers!</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8386060815" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8230/8386060815_fe7a6339de_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1358356933898.017" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="338" height="500"></a></div>
<p style="text-align: center;">(This is the old cover. Ikea doesn't sell this fabric anymore - sad face!)<br>
</p>
<p>Ok, you are forgiven for scrolling quickly through this post and on to more thrilling material.<br>
</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8387145604" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8046/8387145604_e93b0a42c4_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1358356933898.4304" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="333" height="500"></a></div>
<p style="text-align: center;"> (Tracing.)</p>
<p>I deconstructed one of my old slip covers to trace a new pattern, making adjustments for the new chairs. I hope to get one put together today, and make any necessary changes to the pattern, then pound the others out this week. </p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8386061957" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8492/8386061957_dfacb12218_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1358356933869.1946" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="347" height="500"></a></div>
<p style="text-align: center;"> (New Ikea fabric.)</p>
<p>I also came up with a plan for my <a href="http://vmqg.ca" target="_blank" title="">VMQG</a> name tag, but haven't actually started it, so I will have to share it later.</p>
<p>{I promise, I did do some real sewing this week, and have a few finishes to share later this week!}</p>

I've got a quilt to finish, and need a little prod with the old peg leg, a little parrot voice on my shoulder to egg me on.<br />
<br />
I need to finish my boy's pirate quilt, so I'm joining up with the Leanne's <a href="http://www.shecanquilt.blogspot.ca/p/2013-finish-long.html" target="_blank">Finish-along at She Can Quilt</a>.<br />
<br />
Here's my official list for Q1:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
1. Pirate Quilt. I need to put all these pieces together in a cohesive way!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-95-Prqknj2M/UPLmjkFaw5I/AAAAAAAAB-g/X4AXweU2DHo/s1600/pq.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-95-Prqknj2M/UPLmjkFaw5I/AAAAAAAAB-g/X4AXweU2DHo/s320/pq.png" width="190" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CicHW5U-VwE/UPLdl-W3enI/AAAAAAAAB9M/UMPu0avNerc/s1600/pppirate1wm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CicHW5U-VwE/UPLdl-W3enI/AAAAAAAAB9M/UMPu0avNerc/s200/pppirate1wm.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
2. Madrona Road Quilt Guild Challenge<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5kO5yKd6J1c/UPLgWe2wcmI/AAAAAAAAB94/e2uwDVvRRmI/s1600/mrwm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5kO5yKd6J1c/UPLgWe2wcmI/AAAAAAAAB94/e2uwDVvRRmI/s320/mrwm.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I am making a paper piecing template for this today (a copy of an existing quilt pattern, but I don't think I have the patience to make the pattern as originally designed) - it will be a cushion cover, not a quilt -- hey, I know my limitations!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Princess and the Pea mini-quilt </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bZEplkUOZYY/UPLgbOWfkyI/AAAAAAAAB-E/L5dx7y5Tjg4/s1600/princessminiwm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bZEplkUOZYY/UPLgbOWfkyI/AAAAAAAAB-E/L5dx7y5Tjg4/s320/princessminiwm.png" width="229" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have got as far as sewing one panel onto this (mostly because the panel I received from Spoonflower had almost no seam allowance at the bottom of the panel, and I was worried it would fray if I didn't put something there right away! This will have a little patchwork frame, with some embroidery at the bottom. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Japanese x and + blocks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7u0KWW-M7f0/UPLgRVsvIDI/AAAAAAAAB9w/mklOC98Nez0/s1600/xandpluswm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7u0KWW-M7f0/UPLgRVsvIDI/AAAAAAAAB9w/mklOC98Nez0/s320/xandpluswm.png" width="179" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hopefully these will be turned into a table runner, or pot holders, or, well, <i>some</i>thing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Of course there are quite a few unofficial projects that I want to be working on (but haven't started yet), such as:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Dining chair slip covers. I bought some new (to me) chairs that match my old chairs, except the backs are about 1 1/2" inches taller. I made slip covers for my old chairs, but will have to draft a new pattern for the new ones, and since I can't get anymore of the fabric I used for my old chairs, I will probably replace those covers too. Hoping to get these done before my in-laws arrive on Feb 8. Hah!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. VMQG name tag challenge. Have to get this done this week!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Baby quilt for an impending niece/nephew.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Applique onesies for said baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay, this could go on for a while, but I'll leave it at that, before it becomes embarrassing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There's still a few hours left to <a href="http://www.shecanquilt.blogspot.ca/2013/01/2013-finish-long-q1-begins.html" target="_blank">link up with the Q1 Finish-along</a>, if you feel so inclined!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

Yes, yes, I'm still alive ;) We had (what seemed like) a long break from school, and are just getting back into the swing of things this week. There was a tree put up and taken down, scores of mincemeat tarts baked and devoured, a trip to Seattle, and, to be honest, pretty much no relaxing, or sewing! I am {slightly} glad that school is back in session. And I have a few finishes and a never ending WIP to share with you.<br/><br/>Spotted in Seattle:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8361797591" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8497/8361797591_478cec5350.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195587.5178" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="441"></a></div>
Gorgeous sewing machines! I saw a similar display in Oxford Circus in London last summer, but didn't manage to snap a picture.<br/><br/> Back at home, I carved out a little time to knock out a few quick finishes.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8362862648" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8368/8362862648_c84141f20d.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195586.134" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="338"></a></div>
He is too cute!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8361801147" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8504/8361801147_cf8887beac.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195576.8826" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="363"></a></div>
A simple card wallet to house all those loyalty/membership cards that were taking over my purse.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8361801961" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8353/8361801961_186ea36fcd.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195633.2327" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="246"></a></div>
A remote control basket.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8362865974" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8503/8362865974_f522470320.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195590.5347" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="333"></a></div>
With a little Architextures.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8362871972" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8323/8362871972_94252aed35.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195664.8062" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="497"></a></div>
One of these awesome pincushions that I have wanted forever! You can see it has already been put to use, it is a perfect tool for hand sewing hexagons on the couch.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8361807653" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8082/8361807653_fa350c9c86.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195674.0393" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="333"></a></div>
I discovered that I have a surprising amount of sewing related fabric! I actually made one of these pincushions for the VMQG scrap swap last month, but forgot to take a picture before giving it to its recipient.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8362873190" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8051/8362873190_fd2a3f34e9.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195632.9004" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="457"></a></div>
This is my latest addition to my son's pirate quilt (last seen <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/11/chez-shea.html?m=0" target="_blank" title="">here</a>).It was his request, so pretty hard to say no, although I worry with all the paper piecing in this quilt it is going to end up being less of a cozy bed quilt, and more of a wall hanging quilt, which is not what I was going for! I am hoping that as long as it's not too heavily quilted it will still be soft and comfortable.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8361811395" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8085/8361811395_a21d28c8c5.jpg" id="blogsy-1357715195645.4067" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="343"></a></div>
My favourite part of this block is the 3D bandana knot. This is from the <a href="http://handiwerx.blogspot.ca/2012/10/paper-pieced-pirate.html?m=1" target="_blank" title="">Something Wicked blog hop</a>. I am planning to add a couple more swords at the bottom of the ship, then an inner border, a middle border of pinwheels, and an outer border to bring it up to size, and then a little a little appliqué and it will be done. I reserve my right to completely change that plan at any time, of course!<br/><br/> I am still nowhere near caught up on my reader, but I have been awed by all the creativity and inspiration I have seen in blogland over the holidays. I'm linking up to <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.com" target="_blank" title="">WiP Wednesday</a> at Lee's, and will be looking forward to catching up with you all!<br/><br/>Thanks for visiting!<br/><br/> <br/><br/><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Chez Roohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16388764069827049149noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072643167959845502.post-49108348035603396792012-12-19T01:54:00.001-08:002012-12-19T01:54:31.100-08:00T-minus 6 Since Wednesdays seem to catch me by surprise every week or so, you can probably imagine how it happened that I woke up yesterday morning and realized that Christmas -- along with all the necessary planning of gifts, mailing cards and presents to far-away relatives, not to mention planning all the activities needed to keep young boys on school holidays out of trouble -- was only seven days away! And in the afternoon, I suddenly recalled that one of my boys' teachers was finishing her term today. I had plans of gift cards, with simple little gift card wallets for all the children's teachers. So I whipped one up - I just enough time from the moment of realization, to the moment of school pickup! Did I take a picture of it? Nope. But here are two other wallets, yet to be sewn together.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8285891367" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8489/8285891367_4074586c76.jpg" id="blogsy-1355910027992.0735" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="386"></a></div>
In other, more photogenic, news, I finished the tree skirt!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8286944712" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8071/8286944712_3fcfe0bcfe.jpg" id="blogsy-1355910028061.3552" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="370"></a></div>
I did the star quilting with silver thread. It was definitely the easiest and most satisfying part of the quilting.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8286947338" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8212/8286947338_1d612e54af.jpg" id="blogsy-1355910028051.5518" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="324"></a></div>
I added some swirls in the middle, mostly just to try them out, because they will never be seen under the tree. They were fun, and I love the look of them, but quite time-consuming. I filled in the outer edge of the skirt with loopy free motion lines.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8286946514" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8286946514_cf0edd0c0d.jpg" id="blogsy-1355910028015.113" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="298"></a></div>
The original pattern from Fat Quarterly included only houses and trees, but I wanted to throw in a few other whimsical little buildings -- castles and onion domes...<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8286945730" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8500/8286945730_125c43610d.jpg" id="blogsy-1355910028045.159" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="359"></a></div>
Chapels and Dutch roofs...<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8285892051" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8337/8285892051_593bbc01b7.jpg" id="blogsy-1355910028064.5513" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="339"></a></div>
Here is my inspiration - these little papier mâché ornaments that my partner and I made for one of our first Christmases together.<br/><br/>I'm linking up with <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.blogspot.com" target="_blank" title="">WIP Wednesday</a>, so come on over and check out all the awesomeness!<br/><br/>Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it, happy holidays to those of other persuasions, and I hope you all have a great Mayan apocalypse!<br/><br/>Thanks for visiting!<br/><br/> <br/><br/><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Chez Roohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16388764069827049149noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072643167959845502.post-61775104426986767152012-12-12T14:56:00.001-08:002012-12-12T14:56:33.145-08:00Starry night. Hmm, almost didn't realize it was Wednesday today! What does that tell you?!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8268409530" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8218/8268409530_a6b0746486.jpg" id="blogsy-1355352960340.3235" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="322"></a></div>
I have finished cutting out and placing all the little appliqué pieces for my tree skirt.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8268408786" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8500/8268408786_7b64d23e57.jpg" id="blogsy-1355352960326.24" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="497"></a></div>
Did a little FMQ experimenting, and hope to have this quilted and bound and under the {naked!} tree by the weekend.<br/><br/>Linking up with <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.blogspot.com" target="_blank" title="">WIP Wednesday</a>, and am off the browse the rest of the links :)<br/><br/>Thanks for visiting!<br/><br/> <br/><br/><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Chez Roohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16388764069827049149noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072643167959845502.post-82734259590730233562012-12-09T09:42:00.000-08:002012-12-09T09:44:40.691-08:00Sew Mama Sew Giveaway WinnerI just want to say that I am sorry that I have not been able to respond to all of your fabulous comments on the giveaway post - so many of you were so sweet!! I was so happy that so many people were interested in adopting the tote - way more than I ever would have thought! And welcome to all my new followers -- I am flattered that you want to stick around, it makes it so much more fun to share things, when you have people to share them with :)<br />
<br />
I visited random.org this morning to determine the winner of the giveaway, and the RNG says:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fi0LGRxXpVo/UMTKfCqgTaI/AAAAAAAAB8k/ba-ADEcX7Uo/s1600/SMSgiveawaydraw.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fi0LGRxXpVo/UMTKfCqgTaI/AAAAAAAAB8k/ba-ADEcX7Uo/s1600/SMSgiveawaydraw.png" /></a></div>

<br />
The winner is Kat from <a href="http://mummastimetocreate.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Diary of a Flutter Kat</a> in Australia - congrats Kat! I have emailed you.<br />

<br />
Thanks so much to everyone for entering - I can't believe how much fun it was to participate in the Sew Mama Sew giveaway - mostly because of reading all of your awesome comments!!<br />
<br />
Our family is heading off this morning for a ride on the Polar Express, a vintage steam train ride, run by the <a href="http://www.wcra.org/" target="_blank">Westcoast Heritage Railway</a> for two weekends in December - it involves snow, PJ's and hot chocolate! <br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!<br />

Whew, it has been a busy week, what with Sew Mama Sew's <a href="http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/" target="_blank" title="">giveaway day</a> (my giveaway is <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/12/sew-mama-sew-giveaway-day.html" target="_blank" title="">here</a>), and life in general. We are moving into school concert season starting next week - it's so fun to watch my kids performing in these little concerts and recitals, I am charging up my video camera to be ready! Most importantly this week I finally bought the DVD of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elf_(film)" target="_blank" title="">Elf</a>. My Most Favourite Christmas Movie Ever!! So I am beginning to feel super Christmassy! Once again, not a lot of sewing, but I did start my item for the <a href="http://www.vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca" target="_blank" title="">VMQG</a> scrap swap. Here's a little peek...<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8246807313" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8344/8246807313_e247912c40.jpg" id="blogsy-1354730056905.1155" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="339"></a></div>
Yep, that's my seam ripper. This is my first time making something for someone else, with their fabric - yikes!<br/><br/>I also pulled out all my Christmas fabric (much more than I thought!) to get started on some time sensitive projects.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8247943702" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8488/8247943702_dbedb50341.jpg" id="blogsy-1354730056912.4863" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="340"></a></div>
I'd love to make a bunch of Christmas gift bags so that we can cut down on wrapping paper. I'm also planning to make one of these "The Hood" Christmas tree skirts, it's so cute, and it looks like the little papier mâché ornaments that my partner and I made for our tree twenty years ago (they are still some of my favourite ornaments, of course).<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8247944806" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8210/8247944806_b479561d97.jpg" id="blogsy-1354730056921.2966" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="409"></a></div>
So, I guess I should get moving! I'm looking forward to seeing what everybody else has been up to on Lee's <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.blogspot.com" target="_blank" title="">WIP Wednesday</a>, if anybody got anything done what with all those giveaways to enter!<br/><br/> As always, thanks so much for visiting and have a great Wednesday!<br/><br/> <br/><br/><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Chez Roohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16388764069827049149noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072643167959845502.post-74107952226338365762012-12-03T07:00:00.000-08:002012-12-07T18:30:40.086-08:00Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day**GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**<br />
<br />
Welcome to my <a href="http://www.sewmamasew.com/blog" target="_blank" title="">Sew Mama Sew</a> giveaway! <br />
<br />
If you have never been here before, welcome! My name is Yzo (sounds like Izzo), and I am a parent to three young children -- what you see here is what I do to make myself feel sane. I really believe making things that combine beauty and function is both therapeutic and reflects/contributes to the culture around us. As an added bonus, we crafters are totally gonna rule the world when the zombie apocalypse comes!<br />
<br />
Now on to the giveaway!<br />
<br />
I made this Cut Out and Keep <a href="http://r1rk9np7bpcsfoeekl0khkd2juj27q3o-a-fc-opensocial.googleusercontent.com/gadgets/ifr?url=http://www.google.com/friendconnect/gadgets/members.xml&container=peoplesense&parent=http://www.noodle-head.com/&mid=0&view=profile&libs=google.blog&d=0.1-1991c764_e9d3234c_6ca83f67_bd79f910_13a3b3c1.7&lang=en&country=US&communityId=04467576422305757962&caller=http://www.noodle-head.com/2011/03/241-tote-pattern.html#st=e%3DAOG8GaD1zmG5hDb8%252Fg3tD%252FzQL2al6cDp3q%252BeOksCxx6hDstc5efJofaNMPZ8OW%252FDMqFywb5OteVSl63cLHL2JG22kMyul0Z1SF2v%252FwS%252Bxf7jPbuKK4QVodmDXMjMsSe0rFd2p1ctT4s7gHGp4rhhnfqhdzAchJBfhqtaEXvUogAQUEYcyG5bMHcNOwu7O3ESNiHe9koBftv859USheUZSzk%252FKzOoHZJZXrj8PpW9kdkHwrq76NLkc5Mtt390uZX7rjkRU3vGpgzXoA1RPnNMo2N6tgCdpHJ6Fw%253D%253D%26c%3Dpeoplesense&rpctoken=830777621&" target="_blank" title="">241 Tote</a> many months ago with no real recipient in mind (and while I love the design, it's not really my style) ... Now I realize that I must have made it for one of you, I just didn't know it at the time!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8240736462" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1354524027451.9932" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8480/8240736462_030d9d2ebc_c.jpg" width="331" /></a></div>
It is made with some Cut Out and Keep fabric (I couldn't resist Anna Noodlehead's original tote!), with It's a Hoot ovals for the side pockets and lining.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8239672677" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="338" id="blogsy-1354524027466.507" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8345/8239672677_549369028c.jpg" width="450" /></a></div>
It has an adjustable strap, an inner pocket, and a key fob. Not to mention two side pockets and two zipper pockets on the front - that's a total of five pockets, people!! You can never have too many pockets to root through in search of lip balm, I always say.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8240738380" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1354524027532.7637" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8197/8240738380_74a4bdc4df_c.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>

Taxes are no fun. For us it is business tax time. They are draining me of my will to live, people!!<br />
<br />
Not much happening on the sewing front. Here's a little update.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QkEc1HOZBpU/ULZ0Syw7DlI/AAAAAAAAB7s/KdInEMSAhX8/s1600/menagerie.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QkEc1HOZBpU/ULZ0Syw7DlI/AAAAAAAAB7s/KdInEMSAhX8/s320/menagerie.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Compiled a little menagerie, in varying degrees of stuffedness.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DFsK3U3kMJI/ULZz9N-1pVI/AAAAAAAAB7U/oJQ5fvkS3pE/s1600/babygoldfishwm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DFsK3U3kMJI/ULZz9N-1pVI/AAAAAAAAB7U/oJQ5fvkS3pE/s320/babygoldfishwm.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Picked up some onesies from H&M, so that I can applique some of the world's most expensive fabric for my future niece or nephew to drool on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GNo2T6QEjUg/ULZ0MPQ_iwI/AAAAAAAAB7k/SPqB8NCVjko/s1600/kfsweaterwm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GNo2T6QEjUg/ULZ0MPQ_iwI/AAAAAAAAB7k/SPqB8NCVjko/s320/kfsweaterwm.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Dug this sweater out of my closet. That's a Kaffe Fasset pattern that I knitted almost twenty years ago, and accidentally felted almost ten years ago. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-itvUoL7k5x4/ULZ0FTvUZ8I/AAAAAAAAB7c/xdgZaWZNVFw/s1600/kfsweater2wm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-itvUoL7k5x4/ULZ0FTvUZ8I/AAAAAAAAB7c/xdgZaWZNVFw/s320/kfsweater2wm.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I still love the design, and there is a fair amount of fabric in it -- could be a good handbag, or knitting basket? Maybe a cushion? Any suggestions?<br />
<br />
Pirate quilt? No progress. <br />
<br />
Eleventy thousand other christmas-related projects? No progress.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2012/11/giveaway-day-is-december-3-mark-your-calendars/" target="_blank">Sew Mama Sew</a> is having their December giveaway day next Monday, and I have a little something that has been waiting for a loving home -- I am thinking giveaway day is the perfect occasion to find one...here's a hint: <br />
<br />

Linking up to <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">WIP Wednesday</a>. As soon as I have uncrumpled enough receipts to justify a little break/procrastination, I will be checking out all the awesomeness of WIP Wednesday!<br />

Thanks for visiting, and for your thoughts in this taxing time. (Sorry. It was funny in my head.)<br />

I have to say, the show and tell was dominated by a lot of ridiculously talented quilters. Seriously, people were pulling out two, three or more quilts of amazing quality. I felt like a serious underachiever with only one (not even a quilt!) item! Just kidding, I was thrilled to be able to show my cathedral windows pillow, all sewn up.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8197581371" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8344/8197581371_79df8defdf.jpg" id="blogsy-1353485420558.9348" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="343"></a></div>
Now it is living on my sewing chair, to keep it away from my crayola-graffiti lovin' children. I think I probably have another cathedral window project in me, but I will never be making a full quilt out of them!<br/><br/> Work continued on the pirate quilt:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8197582473" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8343/8197582473_58fd606f75_b.jpg" id="blogsy-1353485420574.9753" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="400" height="671"></a></div>
I'm kind of making it up as I go along, but my son wanted his name on it, so I paper pieced that this weekend. (And now you know part of the origin of my blog name - Chez rhymes with Shea!) Hopefully this top will grow some more over the next week.<br/><br/>I also made a couple of these Orla Kiely inspired scrappy sprout blocks for <a href="http://r1rk9np7bpcsfoeekl0khkd2juj27q3o-a-fc-opensocial.googleusercontent.com/gadgets/ifr?url=http://www.google.com/friendconnect/gadgets/members.xml&container=peoplesense&parent=http://traceyjayquilts.blogspot.ca/&mid=0&view=profile&libs=google.blog&d=0.1-1991c764_e9d3234c_6ca83f67_bd79f910_13a3b3c1.7&lang=en&country=US&communityId=14392597072196865601&caller=http://traceyjayquilts.blogspot.ca/2012/10/wip-wednesday-scrappy-sprouts.html#st=e%3DAOG8GaCRE3E23%252BKgWJiM%252BuXUcPBPuYwDfQLK05Echgp1Rf6%252FOa%252F4ga6ZK%252BltqoLNFbrdWFOALZtEoZHRu4oXIuQ7Nto47j%252Fqf6JU4LDzbXnn9Ms2LG5Jam5Dl8jFx2rr%252BVAq%252BHrjiJ7WwcTuaRDVhQRW0YTdzV7fhdI1ttdxzt3yURG2qgmFIOGvwwk3zC%252BGKd5rkxcJSCimmsvpjgA4rj9tzFVMGbPLAXsHj38pg3lB0R9Kp4WUEe376BYB63Owt6by98x0NEfAeVsZJIaMsTwcs4BC1TYd%252FubhoOcqU7OLm15YJFZii9Q%253D%26c%3Dpeoplesense&rpctoken=2092391308&" target="_blank" title="">Traceyjay</a>.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8198672630" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8205/8198672630_d2d6dcd655.jpg" id="blogsy-1353485420535.1572" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="446"></a></div>

(And a giveaway winner!) I believe that only Canadians will go out and surf in the frigid waters of the Pacific Ocean in November ... and so I guess my boys are true Canadians.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8184240628" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8058/8184240628_e7a4fa31bd.jpg" id="blogsy-1352873506349.2803" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="297"></a></div>
That's my boy getting up for his first time on a surf board with his instructor cheering him on, and his dad watching in the background. Yay!!<br/><br/>Yes, it was pretty spectacular weather for November, but the next day was back to normal.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8184202073" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8062/8184202073_f7eef5833b.jpg" id="blogsy-1352873506343.67" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="279"></a></div>
And we saw our first snow of the year driving back home.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8184201511" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8204/8184201511_7b074e9dee.jpg" id="blogsy-1352873506349.771" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="312"></a></div>
Brrr!<br/><br/>Now back to the topic at hand -- after being bitten by the Cathedral window bug a couple of weeks ago, I had to give the cushion a go. I have a little Ikea bolster with a cover that has seen better days, so I thought it would be a good pillow to window-ize, as it's smaller than your average pillow.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8184237680" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8204/8184237680_c0c969d666.jpg" id="blogsy-1352873506345.1335" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="266"></a></div>
It's obviously not finished yet, but I kind of love it.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8184200933" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8488/8184200933_d082258581.jpg" id="blogsy-1352873506414.1616" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="333"></a></div>
Hellooo, baby!<br/><br/>And, before I forget (seriously, if I get up and walk away, I <em>will</em> forget!), mr. Random Number Generator says that, in this case, the early bird really does get the worm... The giveaway winner is #1<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8184283048" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8062/8184283048_19361ed7b2_n.jpg" id="blogsy-1352873506387.3733" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="209" height="243"></a></div>

I saw this at the fabric store, while I was on a completely unrelated mission, and immediately thought of all the birthday and Christmas gifts coming up for little people, and the stuffies/pillows on <a href="http://sewlandia.blogspot.ca/2012/10/happy-drawing-panel-pillow-tutorial.html" target="_blank" title="">Sewlandia's blog</a>. This giveaway is open to followers, old and new. I am so appreciative of you all stopping by and reading, it is so wonderful to be able to share my crafty obsessions with you. My husband tries to be supportive and appreciative, but he still refers to knitting stitches as "knots" - I know I can count on you guys to speak my language!!<br />
<br />
To enter, leave a comment to let me know that you are a follower - just one comment per person please. That's it. Please make sure I can contact you if you win - if you're a no-reply blogger please leave your email in the comment -- eg., nancydrew (at) email (dot) com. International entries are welcome, giveaway closes at 9pm PST on Tuesday November 13. <br />
<br />
Thanks again! I will announce a winner on Wednesday November 14.<br />
<br />
Other than that, so far this week I just did a little blog revamping ... it's a work in progress, but it does feel like there's a little more room to breathe now. If you take a peek at the top of the page you'll see I added a tab for patterns and tutorials. You can find my Tea Squared Tea Cozy tutorial, and I just uploaded the shark pattern for those people who mentioned that they might like it. I hope to add to that section in the near future.<br />

Here's what October looked like.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8142420433" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8472/8142420433_ae70708eda.jpg" id="blogsy-1351752984630.8784" class="aligncenter" width="450" height="450" alt=""></a><br>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="text-align: left;clear: both; ">I'm happy to say that I finished my <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/10/not-really-wip-but.html" target="_blank" title="">King sized voile quilt</a>, and have been sleeping under it almost every night since. It adds the perfect extra layer of warmth over our duvet on chilly nights, but is warm enough on its own on not-so-chilly nights. This is for sure my favourite finish for October.<br>
</div>
I also made some simple backpacks for goody bags to give out at my son's birthday party, some long-overdue cushion covers, and trick-or-treat bags for my kids.<br/><br/>I continued hand stitching <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/09/t-hex.html" target="_blank" title="">T-Hex</a>, estimated date of completion: June 2013!<br/><br/>I'm so happy that I tried a cathedral window pincushion, it really lit my fire to make a cathedral window cushion cover.<br/><br/>On the yarny side, I pulled out some <a href="http://www.blogger.com/comment-iframe.g?blogID=6072643167959845502&postID=289496082431918762&blogspotRpcToken=5116932#%7B%22color%22%3A%22rgb(98%2C%2098%2C%2098)%22%2C%22backgroundColor%22%3A%22rgb(252%2C%20249%2C%20233)%22%2C%22unvisitedLinkColor%22%3A%22rgb(59%2C%2033%2C%20182)%22%2C%22fontFamily%22%3A%22'Trebuchet%20MS'%2C%20Trebuchet%2C%20Verdana%2C%20sans-serif%22%7D" target="_blank" title="">WIPs from last winter</a> that I want to complete - beautiful fiddlehead mitts. And because two sets of unfinished mitts is not enough, I started another pair for the baby-daddy.<br/><br/>I also started some Japanese x and + blocks, maybe one day destined to be a table runner.<br/><br/> The <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/04/jigsaw-puzzle-quilting.html" target="_blank" title="">Pirate quilt</a> made a reappearance -- every time I worked on a different project my six year old would raise his eyebrows and ask why I wasn't working on his quilt! His guilt trip was apparently successful and I got back to work.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140782827" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8469/8140782827_882e121efe_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1351752984568.608" class="aligncenter" width="425" height="553" alt=""></a></div>
I made up the little shark guy on the bottom (the pattern will be available to download next week if anyone needs a shark!) and still need to add some more elements and then maybe an HST border.<br/><br/>Thanks so much for visiting -- I look forward to seeing what y'all have been up to, too!<br/><br/><a href="http://lilysquilts.blogspot.com/" title="Lily's Quilts"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wq1RbuDPH10/UGiU7-dNjcI/AAAAAAAAFLk/X8vT4yp2Us0/s150/FSDB.png" id="blogsy-1351752984644.5552" class="" width="150" height="150" alt="Lily's Quilts"></a><br/><br/><a href="http://lilysquilts.blogspot.co.uk" title="Lily's Quilts"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_vkk9pzOdy8/UGiUnwEStzI/AAAAAAAAFLY/JNaWD8KrACA/s150/SBMB.png" id="blogsy-1351752984645.5566" class="" width="150" height="150" alt="Lily's Quilts"></a><br/><br/> <br/><br/><div style="text-align: right; font-size: small; clear: both;" id="blogsy_footer"><a href="http://blogsyapp.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://blogsyapp.com/images/blogsy_footer_icon.png" alt="Posted with Blogsy" style="vertical-align: middle; margin-right: 5px;" width="20" height="20" />Posted with Blogsy</a></div>Chez Roohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16388764069827049149noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6072643167959845502.post-8384370834552093372012-10-31T00:48:00.001-07:002012-10-31T00:54:47.128-07:00Put a shark on it! I don't know how it happened -- probably it was the unrelenting rain last Saturday that meant I didn't have to take the kids out, but could proclaim it a movie day for small people -- but I actually had a small burst of productivity.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140815460" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8043/8140815460_a58303793b.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062465.2217" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="337"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140816178" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8055/8140816178_f6ce79d106.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062426.55" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="360"></a></div>
They do brighten up our otherwise very neutral living room.<br/><br/>I also scratched another long planned project off my list - I love, love, love cathedral window quilts, but thought that getting those smooth curves might be challenging, so I started off with one of these from the Moda Bake Shop site.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140785049" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8331/8140785049_6051e1d631.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062444.8687" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="384"></a></div>
So easy and so cute! I shortened the stitch length for the curves and they went perfectly. The only thing i would change is to cut the centre square 4.5" instead of 4.25", as i had a hard time making sure all the raw edges were sewn in before turning it. Next, I would love to make a small cushion. Of course, that cushion would then have to be encased in plastic (like all that "good" 60s furniture) so that no sticky paws could destroy it!<br/><br/>The major project last week was making the shark for my son's <a href="http://chezroo.blogspot.ca/2012/04/jigsaw-puzzle-quilting.html" target="_blank" title="">pirate quilt</a>. I still had to make the sea, and then enlarge my original test shark. All went smoothly until I had a little lesson in values (I'm sure you've been noticing all the <a href="http://badskirt.blogspot.ca/2012/10/value-added.html" target="_blank" title="">blog talk</a> about value quilts!). See what I mean?<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140782133" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8324/8140782133_846e5144bf.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062459.6167" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="276"></a></div>
His jaw and bottom fin are almost invisible because I placed them next to fabrics of the same value. I could only face so much ripping out of improv pieces, so I only replaced the one next to the jaw. I can live with it! I just have to clean up the pattern, and then I'll have it here to download for anyone who might need a little shark in their life. Who knows, sharks could be the next owl, hedgehog or fox! It could happen. <br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140782827" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8469/8140782827_882e121efe_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062444.9824" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="552"></a></div>
I think he is pretty cute. I don't have a firm plan for the rest of the quilt - paper pieced letters for my sons name, maybe a paper pieced Jolly Roger. An HST inner border and a plain outer border? I think it will evolve as it needs to. I think this quilt will require some hand-quilting, as I can imagine I might break some needles trying to fmq with all those seams!<br/><br/>Lastly, (I told you I actually got some stuff done this weekend!) I saw a <a href="http://lizofdandeliondaydreams.blogspot.ca/2012/08/japanese-and-x-table-runner-ta-dah.html" target="_blank" title="">gorgeous table runner</a> with four Japanese x and + blocks by Liz of Dandelion Daydreams, and I have wanted to make that block for a long time so I figured I would give it a shot.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8140785219" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8185/8140785219_70e975d272.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062463.8914" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="212"></a></div>
I'm not crazy about the block on the left, a little too pink and blue I think, but I do like the one on the right. I think the Field Study fabrics work really well for these blocks. I feel like I still have so much to learn about colour, scale and value and these blocks are a really good exercise for that. I like how Liz used a neutral for the triangle pieces, it certainly works well to tone down the craziness of this block - but I also kind of like the crazy!<br/><br/>Well, it felt great to accomplish some stuff this week. The thirteen loads of laundry doesn't count, right? Thanks so much for visiting, it is great to have people to share with!<br/><br/>Linking up with <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.blogspot.com" target="_blank" title="">WIP Wednesday</a>, and the <a href="http://weekenddoings.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/slow-bloggers-linky-party.html" target="_blank" title="">Slow Blogger</a> link up.<br/><br/><p style="text-align: center;"> <a href="http://www.knottedcotton.com/p/slow-blog-manifesto.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-B5qHgOhkDsI/UCfWYkEXpAI/AAAAAAAABWo/E-Lsmopk1KE/s125/snail-with-title-001.jpg" id="blogsy-1351670062476.255" class="" alt="Knotted Cotton"></a></p>

Finishing up some WIPs from last winter -- I really want to be able to gift them this year!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8118173523" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8189/8118173523_738d930134.jpg" id="blogsy-1351099178450.6304" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="283"></a></div>
These are the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fiddlehead-mittens" target="_blank" title="">fiddlehead mitten pattern</a>, I was struggling with getting the lining to fit nicely inside the mitten as the original instructions weren't working for me. So I got frustrated (after finishing two other pairs last year) and cast them aside in disgust! But I love them, so they must be finished. The best part?<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8118174717" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8118174717_5571636a12.jpg" id="blogsy-1351099178462.301" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="283"></a></div>
That there is a Brushed Suri lining. It feels like you are wearing little baby bunnies on your hand. Sadly, nay, outrageously, my friend who works at the LYS tells me that Brushed Suri has been discontinued - sad, sad face. Fortunately, I have enough stash to last for a few more pairs.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8118175383" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8333/8118175383_d819ba74bc.jpg" id="blogsy-1351099178448.401" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="283"></a></div>
Which is good, because I just started another pair for the DaddyO.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8118183962" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8336/8118183962_66ecb0f914.jpg" id="blogsy-1351099178440.0625" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="283"></a></div>
In case you thought there was no sewing content in this post - I would hate to disappoint you, so I whipped these up!<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8118185914" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8330/8118185914_d816c6a8b3.jpg" id="blogsy-1351099178415.0762" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="425" height="274"></a></div>

Yay, a WIP Wednesday post actually accomplished before 9pm Wednesday night! Things around here have been pretty busy -- this week was focused on my oldest son's birthday party. I am notorious for leaving the planning of these things to the last minute, but even so, this year we were fortunate enough to be able to book a rock climbing party at a local community centre. It turned out to be lots of fun for the kids, and relatively stress-free for me, so win-win :)<br/><br/>Here's the birthday boy, at the top of the wall.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8095983628" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8333/8095983628_c77cb4c47b_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1350455616675.6316" class="aligncenter" width="275" height="425" alt=""></a></div>
And the siblings:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8095981619" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8475/8095981619_561649636e.jpg" id="blogsy-1350455616609.6123" class="aligncenter" width="425" height="275" alt=""></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8095985728" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8193/8095985728_5d4dd233fc_c.jpg" id="blogsy-1350455616668.4697" class="aligncenter" width="283" height="425" alt=""></a></div>
Everybody had a great time. For the goody bags, I stitched up some little backpacks based on <a href="http://prudentbaby.com/2010/10/baby-kid/how-to-sew-a-drawstring-backpack-2/" target="_blank" title="">this simple drawstring backpack tutorial</a>.<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8095976663" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8476/8095976663_12640c33ff.jpg" id="blogsy-1350455616645.6318" class="aligncenter" width="425" height="212" alt=""></a></div>
We filled them with rock candy, pop rocks, "rock star" pencils, caribiner clips, trail mix ... see the theme? I tried to make the backpacks out of the stash: I already had the Ikea fabric, but I did end up buying the toggle clips to cinch the top of the bag closed, and the nylon ribbon for the straps, all in all though, not that much money, and there were only nine kids (and three of them were mine!) so it was pretty reasonable, and they got something that might have a bit of useful life beyond the party. Do you usually give out goody bags at birthday parties? It doesn't even seem to be a choice anymore - it is entirely expected around these parts.<br/><br/>Other than that, I have been plugging away at T-Hex. See? Last week:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8050641643" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8322/8050641643_ae8043683c.jpg" id="blogsy-1350455616640.5232" class="aligncenter" width="425" height="279" alt=""></a></div>
This week:<br/><br/><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/58558136@N05/8095982438" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8463/8095982438_d986aeb25d.jpg" id="blogsy-1350455616699.871" class="aligncenter" width="425" height="283" alt=""></a></div>
This is approximately 1/4 of the finished size - I think this width is good for a throw quilt, and then the length will be about four times this. I plan to add a neutral border, maybe a grey, to make it a tiny bit larger.<br/><br/>I'm linking up with <a href="http://www.freshlypieced.blogspot.com" target="_self" title="">WIP Wednesd</a><a href="http://(null)" target="_blank" title=""></a>ay, and the <a href="http://plumandjune.blogspot.ca" target="_blank" title="">Lets Get Acquainted Monday Linkup</a> and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has been working in this week!<br/><br/>The <a href="http://plumandjune.blogspot.ca/p/blog-hop.html" target="_blank" title="">Lets Get Acquainted blog hop</a> is hopping into its last few weeks, here are the recent and upcoming blog posts:<br/><br/><p style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; ">Oct 2</span><br>
